1978/ 1982 (HAND-SIGNED) By "XAVIER ROBERTS" CABBAGE PATCH KID DOLL BALD BLUE EYED
It has taken me years to muster up the courage to list this precious, little guy. He has been stored away in a hermetically sealed, storage box for over 2 decades (my mother's idea.) Milton Eric his original name, is a vintage Cabbage Patch Kid Doll from circa 1982. He is a rare piece & is hand-signed by Xavier Roberts, the creator. Xavier Roberts hand-signed less then 500 Cabbage Patch dolls, out of millions produced. The candy apple red, corduroy suit with teddy bear motif & undershirt are original & came with my doll. This bald head, blue-eyed, peaches & cream skin tone baby will melt your heart. Yes, I had fun creating this listing. : )
Serious doll collectors know, that Cabbage Patch dolls were mostly sold with a machine stamp on the left cheek of the dolls rear. Some dolls did not even come with a machine stamp at all & the really rare ones were hand-signed by Xavier Roberts. He randomly chose some dolls to sign throughout their production. One that was hand-signed recently sold for 0,000 but, it came with the original box. It was very hard for me to price mine. How do you put a price tag on your favorite doll?
A little history & provenance on Milton Eric. If you remember the 1980's, Cabbage Patch Dolls were almost impossible to find. They flew off the shelves in 3 minutes, when stores were freshly stocked, after the truck delivered new inventory. My mother worked in the Miami-Dade County Courthouse & her colleague said she could get one. Her husband was the General Manager of a TOY'S R US in. Thanks to him, he hand chose this one & put it aside for my mom to purchase. It was my favorite doll throughout my childhood, even over my Barbie collection.
I loved this doll so much, that I handled him with great care.
Condition: Excellent & very clean. Both the face & body are in great condition. I tend to scrutinize detail in depth. I no longer have the original box with papers. However, it was meticulously maintained & was stored in an airtight container, to guard against humidity & oxidization. I cut the tag off the side of the doll when I was a kid. My father examined the signature under a 10 power loop & confirmed it is hand-signed. He used to own antique stores in Miami up until 2000.
He sold, appraised & authenticated antiques & collectibles, art work, & fine jewelry.
He was often
commissioned during the estate probate process, due to his expertise. He would examine pieces, provide attorneys documentation & provenance papers needed to identify the value of an estate, after a person passed.
Milton Eric is a very sweet & dynamic little guy. When he is not resting in his air tight box, he can be found making people smile. He has a vibrant personality & a good sense of humour. I took some modeling pictures of him, that really capture his spirit & favorite things. He enjoys spending time with his best friend Daisy the dog, watching his favorite movie "The Titanic" & recreating the scene where Leonardo D'Caprio stands at the front of the ship with his arms out & screams "I'm the king of the world". Milton Eric likes to get on the statue with his arms out & recreate that scene from "The Titanic". He also likes to hang in the car & pretend he is a cool kid.

I would like Milton Eric to go to a good home: A die hard Cabbage Patch collector, doll enthusiast or a child who will hug & kiss him would be awesome.
