Description
Maker: This pair of exquisite cabinet plates was made in Bavaria by the legendary German porcelain firm Schumann and it reflects that iconic firm's high quality: the porcelain and paint work are of a very high standard.
Design
: Among Schumann's many wonderful patterns based on the classic Dresden Flowers or Deutsche Blumen design, this one stands out for its intricate paint work. Tiny yet detailed flowers appear at every joint within alternating panels of reticulation, or piercing, complementing the large and vivid multicolored flowers that appear at the center, all against a pure white fine porcelain backdrop.
The gently scalloped and richly gilded pattern is called Chateau Dresden-Royal Dresner Art. The blue Schumann mark on the reverse of both plates - both with the word "Dresden" and one with the word "Bavaria" - was in use from 1932 to 1944, making these plates at least 77 years old.

Condition
: Despite their age and fragile piercing, both plates are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, scratches, stains, wear or repairs. The colors are vibrant and the gold and the reticulation are completely intact. The rim of one plate has quite a bit of discoloration - it's shown in the photos but of course is not visible when the plate is on display.
Size
: The plates are 8 3/8 inches wide and together weigh 1 pound 4 ounces.
Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
