THIS IS ONE OF THE Rarest AND UNIQUE MASKS IN MY COLLECTION. IT IS A RARE HAND CARVED HARDWOOD BHUTAN BUDDHIST SHAMANIC EXORCISM MASK. MASKS LIKE THIS ARE USED BY BUDDHIST MONKS OR SHAMAN IN RELIGIOUS RITUALS AND FESTIVALS. THESE Masks WERE ORIGINALLY  DERIVED FROM THE TOTEM WORSHIPPING OF ETHNIC MINORITIES IN NORTH & WESTERN CHINA, MONGOLIA, NEPAL, BHUTAN AND TIBET. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION, IT IS AN ORIGINAL MASK THAT WAS USED IN SHAMAN RITUALS. I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE TO HAVE FOUND THIS RARE AND VALUABLE PIECE DURING MY A VISIT TO BHUTAN SEVERAL YEARS AGO.
