Based on screenwriter Shagan's 1979 novel. Barney Caine (Scott) of the LAPD uncovers a formula for synthetic gasoline devised by the Nazis in WWII. A greedy and ruthless oil magnate, Adam Steiffel (Brando) and his company hear of the formula, and stop at nothing to destroy it and anyone involved.
Shot on location in Germany, California, and Switzerland. Nominated for an Academy Award.
Orange titled wrappers, noted as revised Final Draft on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 106, dated November 27, 1979, with credits for screenwriter Shagan. 142 leaves, mimeograph duplication, with pink, salmon, orange, yellow, green, blue, magenta and gray revision pages throughout, dated variously between 12-2-79 and 2-11-80.
