About This Cabbage Patch Kid
Meet Berthelda Rosetta! Berthelda has the #17 Coleco head mold. Although other companies also used this head mold, it is very hard to find a Coleco original, because it was only produced between 1987-1989. Head mold #17 features an open mouth with two little teeth and very pudgy cheeks. Adorable! You will receive Berthelda’s original birth certificate, which has never been opened, but shows a tear in the envelope from where it was attached to her box. Her original hangtag has been removed, but is also included.
Berthelda wears her original outfit, a mint-colored floral print dress, matching bloomers, T-strap shoes and white socks. She has green eyes and the double popcorn ponies hairstyle. The original hair ribbons are in place, but one ribbon is partially untied. Popcorn hair is another elusive collectors’ favorite, as it is less common than other hairstyles. Popcorn is a special hair type that was used exclusively for girl dolls from 1986-1989. It consists of loops all over the head and either one or two ponytails of curls that resemble strings of popcorn, hence the name.
About Condition
This kid has been unboxed and gently loved by my daughter (an adult collector). Her face and body are in excellent condition, with no stains, holes or odors. Face paint is bright and fresh. Her outfit is in great condition, but has some minor issues (all flaws noted below). This is a very clean doll. My home and my daughter’s home are both smoke and pet free.
Berthelda has never been played with by children, but she has been displayed, held and hugged. Her body is a bit flat and there are two pin-sized spots, one near her belly button and one on her lower right leg. I found one loop on the back of her head that looks discolored; otherwise, her hair is perfect. The white collar and cuffs of her dress have some discolorations. Socks have yellowed some with age and also show discoloration. She is missing her original diaper.
