The foam has helped the helmet garner a 5 STAR rating by the latest Virginia Tech Helmet Study, putting it in the highest class of helmets. The bright D3O padding in the rear and crown of the helmet remains the same. It features Energy Lock Technology that maintains a soft, comfortable feel during wear but locks up upon impact.
