Pen
:
Iconic 12-sided tapered ebonite body.  Highly collectible.
Lever-filler  [to fill, submerge nib in ink, lift lever 90 degrees and wait a few seconds, then flip lever back to original position].  Filling instructions will be included.
Ebonite feed (allows pen to feed enough ink for fabulous flex without "railroading" due to nib starvation)
Lightly buffed ebonite body, but scratches and nicks remain.  Two significant scratches (significant = deep and very thing).  On below lever, and one 90 degrees to the right of the clip.  Many very thin scratches and some tiny nicks that a bright light and magnification make apparent.  A cluster of very thin scratches that are over 1/8" long are located 90 degrees to the right of the lever.
Gold-filled trim - no brassing (ie, gold worn down to underlying brass), but has micro-scratches. See photos

Distinctive cut-out decorative cap band
Imprint (180 degrees from clip) reads "EVERSHARP" "MADE IN U.S.A."
Screws on - threads in good condition - no issues
Gold-filled clip is short and designed  to meet military regulations that did not allow tops of pens to stick out far from the top of a pocket on a soldier's chest.  Clip has holds very firmly onto rim of pocket, while still slipping easily over the edge of the pocket
NOTE
: To maintain this
jet black
color of this pen, keep it out of the sun (UV light fades ebonite), keep it out of warm/hot water, and do not soak the barrel or cap in water.  When the pen does get wet, wipe it dry the best you can as soon as you can and then let it air dry.
FYI: "Doric" means - "
relating to or denoting a classical order of architecture characterized by a sturdy fluted column and a thick square abacus resting on a rounded molding"

Nib is 14 kt gold nib, marked "FLEXIBLE" and feed is marked "M" for Medium
Nib point is Medium (see the writing sample photos) and writes smoothly
Flexes from
Medium (0.6 mm) to BBBB+ (3.0 mm

Note, the photos show that the one tine may be ever-so slightly higher than the other.  However, the moment the nib touches the paper, because the nib is so flexible, the tines immediately align.
WARNING
: flexing this nib beyond the 3.0 mm range will likely damage the nib, either by springing it or initiating a crack that will grow with every use.  Consider 3.0 mm the extreme maximum, and not the everyday writing line width.
Restoration included:
Scrubbing, swabbing, and lightly buffing ebonite body.
Nib unit (section, nib and feed) was disassembled, soaked, and scrubbed.  Nib and gold trim were polished with jeweler's cloth
Old ink sac replaced
Tested filling system with water
Tested installed nib by filling pen with ink to confirm it writes smoothly and the feed could keep up with the flexing
Flushed nib after test; however, a hint of the Waterman's Harmonious Green ink may remain in the nib
Thoroughly inspected.  No cracks, chips, dents, bulges, burns, or discolorations.  Only micro-scratches on trim.  Two significant scratches, many very thin scratches (most less than 1/16-inch-- only 4 longer than 1/8 inch)     Some soft subtle tiny dings on body, too. See photos.

Wahl Company, later Eversharp, Inc
.  "First Tier" pen manufacturer. A pen manufacturing company located in Illinois. Founded as the Wahl Adding Machine Company in 1905 by John C. Wahl, the company in 1915 purchased a controlling interest in Keeran & Company, maker of the
Eversharp
propelling pencil invented in 1913 by Charles R. Keeran (U.S. Patent No
1,130,741
).
In 1916, Wahl completely absorbed Keeran’s company, acquiring the rights to the
Eversharp
name and gaining also the angular Eversharp logo that remained in use into the 1940s. In 1917 Wahl purchased most of the assets of the Boston Fountain Pen Company and moved its operations to Chicago. By about 1927, Wahl had risen to become a
premier pen maker and displaced Conklin as a member of the “Big Four” American makers
; and in 1940 the company changed its name to become Eversharp. Inc. Perhaps the best known of Eversharp’s pens is the 1940s Skyline, a streamlined pen designed by noted industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss. During World War II, Eversharp purchased the rights to László Bíró’s ballpoint patent and in 1945 introduced the CA, which was a catastrophic failure. In 1957 Parker purchased Eversharp’s writing instruments division.
