Extremely Rare!!!
For the serious collector of rare cereal premiums and toy rings, offered here is an
original vintage (early 70s)
“Dave’s Guided Missile Ring” (a.k.a. “Rocket Launcher Ring”)
from the Cap’n Crunch “Super Rings” series.
This is an extremely rare cereal premium ring, so please take the time to read the details below regarding overall condition and the interesting historical background information on this premium.
Amazingly, this ring is in new condition (unassembled on sprue) and it is still sealed in the original cellophane pack!
The cellophane pack has a tear (approximately 1 ¼”) toward the top right, but this tear is not large enough for the premium to slide out of the pack.
In other words, the premium is still secure inside the pack.
There is also a tear on the back of the cellophane pack where one of the protruding edges of the rocket pierced through the cellophane.
The original tiny blue rubber band (to activate the rocket “launcher”) is still in the pack, so this item is complete with ALL pieces as originally issued.

Historical Background:
In the early 1970s the Quaker Oats company introduced Cap’n Crunch’s Peanut Butter Crunch as a new offering in their cereal line.
To help draw attention to this new cereal and boost sales, the creative marketing team at Quaker Oats offered a very appealing “SUPER RING” premium inside boxes of this cereal.
These rings were undoubtedly some of the coolest cereal premiums ever produced due to their detailed design and mechanical functionality!
There were 4 different “SUPER RINGS”, and each one had a unique design that was based on a particular character from the Cap’n Crunch Crew.
I posted a picture of the cereal box ad that shows all of the “SUPER RINGS”, but this picture is FOR REFERENCE ONLY (the box and the picture are NOT included in this auction).
The ring being offered here is the
“Dave’s Guided Missile Ring”.
Some well-respected cereal premium and toy ring collectors have mentioned that this is one of the toughest rings to find of the Super Ring series (especially complete with all of the original pieces).
This ring is so intricate that it required a 2-picture diagram on the back of the cereal box as a visual reference to help with assembly and operating instructions!
Due to the very limited initial trial run of Cap’n Crunch’s Peanut Butter Crunch cereal in the early 70s, the availability of the “SUPER RING” premiums was also very limited.
This made these rings elusive back then and much scarcer now.
To give you an idea of the scarcity of this item, I’ve only seen 2 of these rings over the past 20+ years.
It is amazing that the ring being offered here is complete and unassembled (still mint on sprue)!
