Description
This Shield is of a Paint Horse that is painted on a piece of deer skin hide. The hide is attached to frame with rawhide string. The Paint Horse is standing.
There are Feathers and black beads attached to the rawhide then draped through the deer skin.
The artist signed his initials CM.
This piece was purchased over twenty years ago at a trade show.
Most of the dealers I've purchased Native American art came from New Mexico or Arizona. Most of the art came from the Navajo, Zuni and Pueblo tribes.
As you can see some of the feathers have been broken due to time. I have an extra feather strand that fell off and will send it with the purchase. I didn't want to try and glue it on. Shield is approximately 15" round.
